Today, let me take you away from all the dust and noise of the city life and welcome you to Alicudi, one of the 8 volcanic islands - Lipari (the largest one), Filicudi, Vulcano, Stromboli, Panarea, Basiluzzo and Salina - of Aeolian archipelago located in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily.
IN THE 80S, AN ITALIAN JOURNALIST AND WRITER GIOVANNA NIGI AND HER HUSBAND SETTLED AT ALICUDI WHICH SINCE THEN, HAS BECOME A PLACE OF THEIR PERMANENT RESIDENCE.
Some interesting facts about Alicudi: Alicudi offers just few facilities: a hotel with a restaurant, another restaurant, roads which are not clearly outlined, few grocery shops, a post office without fixed opening hours and a doctor. Life developed for a long time until the last decade of the last century, without electricity or television. You will be stunned by the simplicity of every day’s life of its 100 inhabitants. The island that some years ago was Mafiosi’s prison is today inhabited by farmers and fishermen. {
